About Project

The structural engineering project involved designing an office block and petrol station situated along a prominent road in Msida. The design had to accommodate large spans to create open, flexible spaces suitable for various commercial uses. Flat slabs were a key feature of the structural design, chosen for their efficiency and simplicity in construction. To address areas requiring increased stiffness, particularly where larger spans were necessary, band beams were integrated with the flat slabs. These band beams provided additional support and rigidity, ensuring the structure could handle the anticipated loads and usage demands. The combination of flat slabs and band beams allowed for a streamlined construction process while maintaining structural integrity and flexibility. This approach ensured that the building could accommodate the specific needs of an office block and petrol station, making it a functional and prominent addition to the bustling area of Msida.
